Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) offered an amendment to H.R. 2028, the Further Continuing and Security Assistance Appropriations Act, 2017, which would prohibit the use of funds for implementation of the Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of Engineers’ Clean Water Rule, which protects the small streams and wetlands that feed into the drinking water of 117 million people in the United States. On April 21, the Senate rejected the Hoeven amendment by a vote of 56-42 (60 votes were needed for passage; Senate roll call vote 57). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
