Mitigating Impacts on Fish and Wildlife
Senate Roll Call Vote 69
Issue: Wildlife

Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) offered an amendment to H.R. 2028, the Further Continuing and Security Assistance Appropriations Act, 2017, which would require the Secretary of the Army to use federal and state expertise to mitigate the fish and wildlife impacts of the Army Corps of Engineers’ projects. This amendment clarifies requirements in the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act of 1958 to ensure that federal agencies give full consideration to wildlife impact analyses from the Fish and Wildlife Service and state agencies. On May 11, the Senate rejected the Cardin amendment by a vote of 39-60 (Senate roll call vote 69). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
